Russian MP rounds up relations of Russia and South Caucasus in 2013

Commenting on progress in relations of Russia and the South Caucasus in 2013, Head of the Russian parliamentary committee for international relations Alexey Pushkov said that they had stabilized. He reminded that Russian President Vladimir Putin had visited Baku and tensions provoked by closing of the Qabala Radar in Azerbaijan had disappeared. The official added that Azerbaijan had not signed the EU association agreement and had certain prospects for integration with Russia.

During a round-table discussion dedicated to the establishment of the Eurasian Union, the head of the department for the economic development of post-Soviet countries in the Center for Post-Soviet Studies at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Elena Kuzmina, said that in her opinion if the leaders of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan will remain in their offices then the Eurasian Union will be created, but its quality will remain in question.
